The German financial regulator is informing the regulated community that it does not send out “mutual non-disclosure agreements” to financial firms.

BaFin has been made aware of two cases in which companies with international operations have received emails purporting to be from it. These that contained fake mutual non-disclosure agreements. The e-mails appear to have been sent with fraudulent intent. The people named in the agreements, Thomas Bergmann and Julian Becker, are not BaFin employees, and the e-mail addresses used, Thomas.Bergmann@bafin-frankfurt.de and julian.becker@bafin-frankfurt.org, are not BaFin email addresses. The e-mails were in English.
