The Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong has granted regulatory clearance to Blackwell Global Hong Kong, opening the path for it to offer asset management services to HNWIs.

The offerings will include equities, bonds and mutual funds, according to Blackwell's propaganda. The Type 9 asset management license allows the holder to manage a portfolio of securities or futures contracts for clients on discretionary basis and to manage funds on discretionary basis.

The licence also enables Blackwell to provide financial services to clients in Europe, Greater China, Australia and New Zealand. The provider of foreign exchange and contracts for differences has already received regulatory licences but is always happy to open up further avenuse of business.

Blackwell Global, whose headquarters are in London, entered the Hong Kong market in 2015, with the establishment of Blackwell Global Hong Kong.

“The brokerage aims to meet the increasing demands for a secure, one-stop investment solution provider, especially with the gateway opened via Stock Connect, paving the way for Chinese, and increasingly, international clients demanding a robust and firmly regulated financial services market,” the firm said.
