Brian Hourihan, who was once senior counsel in the US Securities and Exchange Commission's division of investment management, has been appointed as regulatory compliance officer for Northern Lights Compliance Services, a sister firm of Gemini Fund Services and Northern Lights Distributors.

With more than 25 years of experience working in the financial services industry and specialising in legal and compliance advice, the Gemini Companies, as they call themselves, expect Hourihan to be a key player in their efforts to obey regulations. He will be have to deal with the SEC, FINRA and the National Futures Association.
