Zedra, the provider of trust, fiduciary, corporate and fund services, has appointed a head of compliance for its operations on the island.

Murray has accumulated 10 years of experience at a senior level in Jersey's financial services industry. He has helped shape regulatory and operational policies and has designed digital fiduciary risk assessment tools at a number of financial firms on the island.

In his new job, he will lead a team of compliance people who are responsible for preventing and forestalling financial crime, conducting compliance monitoring and control reviews, producing internal policies and guiding the business through regulatory change.

Zedra has ambitious plans for growth in Jersey and, judging from its enthusiam for Murray, has been prepared to pay 'top dollar' for its compliance effort. A group of independent investors acquired Zedra from Barclays in January. It employs more than 300 people in 10 jurisdictions. In April, the firm bought Jersey-based Azure Trust.
